My children are fond of pizza. Every time we order pizza, I
eat it with a feeling of guilt. So much of maida and preservatives. The reign
of pizza came to an end when I first saw a video on Facebook, in which they
made a paratha with fillings that resembled a pizza’s toppings. And thus
started the reign of Pizza Paratha in our house. Pizza Paratha is the Italian
pizza’s Indian cousin. Whenever you make this paratha, you will be filled with
a sense of relief, as you have saved your kids from the evil clutches of maida.
Kids are also satisfied. I have slightly modified the stuffing so that it suits
my kids’ taste.
The paratha is crunchy on the outside and cheesy on the
inside. You can experiment with the fillings and experience the taste of cheese
in every bite. Keep away your worries of using an oven, as the paratha is made
on a tawa. Though I have folded it into semicircle and sealed the edges, you
can also make it the way you make aaloo paratha. Enjoy your Indianized pizza,
filled with healthy vegetables and free of guilt!

Ingredients:
For dough:
Wheat flour- 2cups

Mozzarella cheese- 1 ½ cup grated
Onion- 1(chopped finely)
Red capsicum- ½ (chopped finely)
Green capsicum- ½ (chopped finely)

Other ingredients:
Pizza sauce- ½ cup
Chilli flakes- 1 tblsp
Mixed herbs- 1 tblsp
Oil- as needed for making the parathas.
Method:
1.
Add oil and a little salt to the wheat flour and
mix well. Add appropriate water little by little and make a smooth dough. Apply
oil on top of it and keep it covered for 15 minutes.
2.
Grate the cheese. Add finely chopped onion and
red and green capsicum to it. Add a little salt and gently mix it.
3.
Take a little dough. Roll and flatten it and
dust with some flour.
4.
Spread some pizza sauce in the middle.
5.
Place a spoonful of pizza stuffing in one side.
Sprinkle a little chilli flakes and mixed herbs on top of the stuffing.
6.
Take one edge and place it on the other edge and
seal it with your hands. Take a fork and press it to seal it further.
7.
Heat a tawa. Place the prepared paratha on top
of it. After few seconds gently turn it over. Apply oil on top .
8.
Gently flip it and apply oil on the other side
too. Once it gets cooked flip again and
make sure that both sides are cooked properly.
9.
Remove from tawa and serve it hot.
Notes:
·
Chop onion and capsicum into fine pieces so that
it will be easy to roll the parathas.
·
You can also add jalapeno and olives to the
stuffing. I didn’t add as my kids don’t like it.
·
When mozzarella cheese is not available at home,
I make use of normal cheese cubes.
·
Make sure to seal the edges tightly, so that
cheese doesn’t ooze out.
