Who said cakes need be an unhealthy craving? What if they are made of millets? Healthier na? Ragi chocolate cake is the right cake you need to try if you are worried about the influence of maida in your diet. Made completely with ragi flour, this chocolaty cake is just like any other cakes (in fact, even better). The sooji gives an amazing new texture. There is a mild coffee flavour in the cake. You won’t have any hint of ragi in the cake. This is a perfect dessert for those worried about the calories…you won’t have to feel guilty anymore! What better way to sneak in ragi into your kid’s diet? They won’t have any idea what’s in there…they will only ask for another piece! Health benefits of ragi- it is rich in calcium. It has high amount of protein, with well-balanced essential amino acid, vitamin A vitamin B and phosphorus. Its high fiber content prevents constipation and high blood pressure. It contains plenty of iron. It is good for diabetic people.

Ingredients:
Ragi (finger millet) flour- ½ cup
Chiroti rawa- 1 ¼ cup
Cocoa powder- ½ cup
Baking powder- 1tsp
Baking soda- 1tsp
Milk- ¾ cup
Eggs-2
Sugar- 1 cup
Butter- 100gms
Instant coffee powder- 1 tsp
Hot boiling water- 1 to 2 tsp
Method:
1. Take a bowl and add ragi flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and whisk it well. Keep aside. This is the dry ingredient.
2. Now take eggs, milk, sugar and butter in another bowl and beat nicely.
3. Take hot boiling water and add coffee powder and mix it.
4. Add the coffee mix into the egg mixture and beat once.
5. Now fold in the dry ingredient into this egg mixture and mix well.
6. Grease a cake mold with butter. Transfer the cake batter into the greased cake mold.
7. Bake this in pre heated oven at 180C for 40 minutes or till done.
8. Cool and remove the cake from the mold and decorate as per your choice
9. Slice and serve.
Notes:
· If batter is too thick, add a few spoons of milk to bring it to the right consistency.
· Beat the mixture thoroughly to make sure that sugar is completely dissolved and there are no lumps.
· To check if the cake is completely cooked you can insert a tooth pick and see. If it comes out clean, the cake is perfectly cooked.

bake at 180c for 40 minute or until done
cool it and remove and decorate
slice and serve
