Paneer Pav Bhaji



All the paneer lovers make some noise!! I love paneer. My kids love Pav Bhaji. And we love Paneer Pav Bhaji 😍! Yes, that’s right… The paneer just adds a new level of taste to the dish. This dish is loaded with veggies and if you add in some paneer, then your kids will ask for more and more servings to go along with the crispy pavs. And with homemade pav bhaji masala powder, you can enjoy tasty pav bhajis that suit your taste. Earlier, I used to make this dish using store brought pav bhaji masala powder. I made the powder at home when I was making the dish for the blog and needless to say, just loved it.  

Potato, peas and carrots are the main ingredients. The paneer adds a tasty twist. If you wanna pamper your kids more, then you can also grate some cheese on top of the bhaji and trust me, it tastes great 😆 One of my top choices for school box. Also good for a filling after school snack. Don’t forget to add some freshly chopped onions and squeeze some lemon on the bhaji before you start devouring it!



Preparation time: 10 minutes| Cooking time: 20 to 25 minutes.Course- Snack| Cuisine-Indian

Ingredients-

Butter- 2 tblsp
Paneer- 100 gms
Potatoes-2
Fresh green peas- a handful
Carrot-1
Capsicum- ½
Onion-1
Tomatoes-2 to 3
Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
Kashmiri red chili powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder- 1tsp
Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
Coriander leaves- a handful

To toast pav:

Pav/bread- 8 to 10
Butter- 1 tblsp
Coriander leaves- 1 tblsp

Method:

1.      Wash, clean and pressure cook potatoes, carrots and green peas for two to three whistles. Remove excess water and mash well and keep ready.
2.      Heat butter in a kadai. Add onion and fry well.
3.      Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves.
4.      Add the chopped tomatoes and stir well until it blends with the onion.
5.      Add chopped capsicum and give it a stir. Then add Kashmiri red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt. Stir well and cook on medium flame until raw smell leaves.
6.      Now add the mashed veggies and mix well. Add water according to required consistency. Give it a boil.
7.      Then add cubed paneer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
8.      Finally add pav bhaji masala powder and coriander leaves. Mix well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Switch off flame. Bhaji is ready.

To prepare pav:

1.      Heat a little butter on tawa. Add a little pav bhaji masala powder and coriander leaves to it.
2.      Slit the pav in the center. Place the pav on the tawa and roast it. Flip and roast the other side too. Serve with bhaji and freshly cut onions and lemon.

Notes:


·        The more butter you add, the tastier it will be.
·        I have mashed the cooked veggies partially, as we prefer it that way. You can mash it until completely soft.
·        Addition of veggies is completely your choice.

 pressure cook veggies
 heat butter in kadai
 add onion and stir
 add ginger garlic paste and 
stir well until raw smell leaves
 add tomatoes and mash well
 add capsicum and mix well
 add red chili powder, coriander
powder, turmeric powder and salt
stir well
 add the mashed veggies
mix everything well

 add water and give it a boil
 add the paneer cubes and cook for 
2 to 3 minutes.
 finally add pav bhaji masala powder
and coriander leaves. cook for 2 to 3 minutes 
switch off flame. bhaji is ready now.
 heat butter on tawa. add pav bhaji masala 
powder and coriander leaves. 
 slit the pav in the middle.
palce it on tawa and roast it
 flip the other side and roast it too
serve with bhaji and freshly cut onion and lemon

Hey guys! Biryani gang make some noise!!  I just love it! Today’s post is DONNE BIRYANI!!! Donne biryani is a very popular biriyani type in Karnataka. There is a very very popular donne biriyani shop near home. Whenever my husband tries to buy from there, he returns empty handed 😔. Because there is always a huge crowd at that place even for takeaways.  But thanks to my friend Nandu who blogs at food fondness , I can now make donne biriyani at home! Here we use just green chili for spice. As it also has coriander, mint and kasuri methi, it has a nice green hue. Paneer Pollichathu

Paneer Pollichathu! Who said banana leaves are used only as eco-friendly plates? Ever tried steaming in banana leaves?! I first came across meen pollichathu in a restaurant here in banagalore. Then, when scrolling through Instagram one day, I came across paneer pollichathu made by Kalpana who blogs at Life with Spices . Gulab Jamun Waffle

One fine day, while scrolling through insta, I came across a giveaway contest by  one of the fellow instagramers  . The challenge went something like this- An Indian traditional dessert with a twist. And I went WOW! It sounded like a very interesting challenge. So Tharu and I got thinking about something unique when she came up with GULAB JAMUN WAFFLES. This dish is actually based on the legendary Gulab Jamun and Vanilla Ice cream combo. So here’s the twist- instead of Gulab Jamun, we have waffles. The waffles are made out of readymade Jamun mix. They are crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The waffles are coated with sugar syrup and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a whole lot of chopped nuts. Seer Fish Fry

This Seer fish fry is the easiest dish I have EVER made. You just have to mix the spices, toss the fish in it, wait for thirty minutes and fry it. And the tasty fish is ready to eat.  My husband Sankar is a die-hard fan of fish. During my initial cooking days, all my fish dishes were nothing short of a disaster. But he patiently believed that someday I will excel in cooking fishes. And here I am today. After all, practice makes woman perfect. Raskadam

Back again with another Diwali recipe- Raskadam! I love anything sweet and totally love rasgullas. But my most favourite Bengali sweet is… well, you guessed it. It’s raskadam. Soft and creamy, melt-in-the-mouth khoya covers soft and spongy rasgulla. We add saffron while making the rasgullas, which lends its bright yellow colour to them. The rasgullas are easy to make and the outer covering takes barely any time. Roll them over desiccated coconut and voila! An easy yet classy Bengali sweet is ready to devour! Suzhiyam

This is my 25 th post! I want to use this post to thank all my well-wishers and blog visitors, who made sure to like, comment and share all my posts, in the blog, facebook and insta.
